Sadness was just recently announced to be an exclusive Wii title by Polish developer Nibris. According to the company head, the premise of the game surrounds conditions like narcolepsy, nyctophobia and paranoid schizophrenia. Don’t worry, if you don’t know what those are, you’re not alone. The game is set to take place during one of the World War eras in the 20th century. It will be set in a city that was very important to Central Europe culture at the time, more specifically a Slavic one.
A small list of features is already making this game unique. The graphics first off, will be displayed completely in black and white. This is similar to the movie Sin City. According to a recent interview, Sadness is meant to scare players via atmosphere rather than the overuse of blood and violence. Just imagining a game in total black and white with the intention to scare can make you shudder. Various possible actions include slitting the throat of enemies with glass or throwing a rope over a wall using the freehand controller.
Obviously we know a lot more about Red Steel than we do Sadness, but just knowing this much is very intriguing. We hope learn more about this likely innovative title if Nibris has more to show come E3.
