The first trailer for Red Steel's multiplayer mode has been released. Featuring four lucky posers ducking and weaving on a couch, the video shows both their actions and the in-game action.
Good news is that the control system looks to be good fun, and the levels and weapons are everything you expect from a shooter. The Wii is likely to become inundated with four-player bullet-dodging deathmatches, and they look as if they will be as addictive as the hallowed days of Goldeneye.
The two main features of the control system covered by the trailer is the shooting (obviously) and grenades. As with the single player mode, gamers can tilt their gun Gangsta-style at any point, and aiming is done entirely with the Wii Remote, with movement covered by the nunchuk's analogue stick.
To fire their weapon, the players in the trailer were seen hammering the B-trigger on the remote, but the grenades use a different system. A throwing movement made with the nunchuk, either overarm or underarm, will throw a grenade, suggesting that even this could be more of a skill on the new Nintendo console.
The bad news is that there was no sign of swordplay in the trailer. Ubisoft have claimed that the sword-fighting will not form the bulk of the game, and it is possible that the code was hard to work into the multiplayer.
Alternatively, it could be absent to prevent any of us from knocking each other out in the heat of a tense one-on-three duel.
