Nintendo has announced the launch date for Nintendo Wii. Arriving in Japan and the United States on November 19th, the console will be available with one wireless Wii remote, one Nunchuk controller and Wii Sports, a collection of five different games built to show of the revolutionary control system. This package will be available for $249.99
Aside from other confirmed features, Nintendo are drawing attention to the Wii Channel Menu, a customizable and highly accessible menu system that allows any Wii user to use each of the consoles features, including games, the Virtual Console and WiiConnect24. It also allows users to receive news and weather, view and send photos, or create playable caricatures for use in actual games.
Virtual Console games can be downloaded in exchange for Wii Points, and certain functions on the Wii Channel menu will allow you to earn these points.
Nintendo Of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, the ass-kicking name-taker himself, had this to say: “Wii reinvents games for the devoted player, but more importantly, Wii breaks the wall separating players from non-players by delivering the best game experiences for the most affordable price. We believe the next leap is games for the masses – young and old, gamer or non, alone, with a friend or with the whole family.”
A European launch date is to be confirmed later today.
