Resident Evil 4 Performs Well In January

According to NPD data released earlier today, 319,000 units of Capcom’s survival horror title were sold during January since its release on the 11th. This was more than Take-Two’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which was second place, pulling down 241,000 units as well as Microsoft’s Halo 2, as well as either version of the new Pandemic-developed Mercenaries, which pushed 201,000 units on the Xbox and 142,000 on the PS2.

This gives Resident Evil 4 worldwide sales of 499,000, factoring in the lukewarm 180,000 units sold in Japan, and it looks set to become the best-selling entry in the series on the GCN, already coming close to the 428,000 units sold of Resident Evil Zero and 468,000 of the Resident Evil remake.

Considered by many to be the greatest Resident Evil game to date, and scoring a perfect 10 from Nintendospin, the title will also hit the PS2 later this year.
