Nintendo Showing More Bandai Love

— Posted by Jesse MacVicar

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, expressed the company’s interest in buying more shares from Bandai. Nintendo shocked everyone last year when they anounced that they had acquired 2.6% shares from the company and became the 9th biggest shareholder.

Even though they plan in acquiring more, mr Iwata also said that they were not planning on buying the company, even though in an interview with the son of Bandai’s president, it was said that there was a conspiracy inside the company to make a takeover by Nintendo possible.

Bandai is the owner of some of the most important intellectual properties in Japan, namely Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, Digimon, and lots fo others. Getting more control on the company could mean that more games are on their way, something that would help boost the sales of Nintendo’s consoles not only in Japan where Bandai is extremely popular, but also in North America and in Europe where japanese animes are becoming more and more popular.

Hopefully, this means great news for Nintendo followers.
