In a recent conference with a few Japanese retailers, Nintendo announced a number of new titles for both Wii and DS, while offering some launch windows and game estimates.
- Wii Compact Software was announced for Q1 2007. Few details were given, but it appears to be some form of downloadable software.
- Health Pack was announced for Wii, and possibly DS. This project seems to be a non-game to help players keep in shape (presumably for those who can no longer keep up with WiiSports!)
- DS Menu Collection was announced for, unsurprisngly, DS. This digital cookbook comes with over 1,000 recipes and a magnetic clip so that you can pin your DS on the fridge while cooking. A WiFi mode has been confirmed for this title, although no details have been given about what this will be used for. The most likely function will be to swap recipes, which would suggest that you can download or store your own.
- The Wii version of Big Brain Academy was confirmed for Q1 2007
- Nintendo announced that there will be at least 18 Wii games released in Japan by the end of the year, as well as 60 Virtual Console games.
None of these new titles have been given US or PAL releases currently but with more Japanese oddities finding a home over here, it’s possible that we will get a piece of the health-inducing, recipe-storing action.
