THQ has announced that the long-running Worms franchise will be coming to Wii in an all-new exclusive game. Worms: A Space Oddity, currently penned in for Spring 2008 release, will see the diminuitive, helium voiced creatures wielding their ever outlandish and devastating weapons across the galaxy.
A Space Oddity will feature a sci-fi visual theme, with levels set across six planets. However, while this is to be expected, the control system is going to be considerably different from the tradtional Worms style.
The Wii remote will be used to launch attacks "through a wide range of gesture-based manoeuvres". THQ have promised single-player missions, accompanied by party games, and online multiplayer that supports up to four players. "Incoming!"

"...a wide range of gesture-based manoeuvres"?
This sounds interesting, and it's always good to see companies trying something new, and trying to accommodate the Wii's unique control system, but hopefully there'll be the option to simply point-and-click for hassle-free obliteration.
Aside from that, bring it on. Worms is one of those rare concepts that just doesn't get old. And online, too. There goes my Spring...
