SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Nintendo's "Pokemon Emerald" for its Game Boy Advance mobile player was the No. 1 selling game in the United States in May, the NPD Group said on Monday.

LucasArts' "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" for Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 2 console, sold the second-most units in May. The same title for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox came in at No. 3.

Microsoft Game Studio's "Forza Motorsport" for the Xbox ranked fourth and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.'s "Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition" for the PlayStation 2 rounded out the top five.

In 2004, U.S. sales of video game software was $7.3 billion.

Most analysts expect U.S. gaming software sales to grow about 5 percent this year, fueled by rising sales for handheld devices like Sony's PSP, and Nintendo's DS dual-screen mobile player.
