According to IGN, the development team behind The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has requested for more time in order to make the game better. This means Zelda won't be released until 2006, and when is yet to be decided. The desire for a better product is understandable and somewhat appreciated, but Zelda was aiming to be a holiday giant and the GameCube's saving grace before the Xbox 360 hits. With no other title this big in development, Christmas looks to be somewhat disappointing now.
Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo's VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, sent out an email to the press stating: "After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess. Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller."
