Customers Not Interested In Online Games?

Satoru Iwata, president of NCL, has talked a lot about the state of the japanese gaming industry to the Japan Economic Foundation.

He has said the he has proof that gamers don’t want online games. It seems like the latest version of Everybody’s Golf hasn’t sold as well as it’s predecessors, and it’s the only version with online play.

“most customers do not wish to pay the extra money for connection to the Internet, and for some customers, connection procedures to the Internet are still not easy” he said. While it may be true with that game, it is not the case with some other titles which have been successful worldwide.

The Nintendo DS though will be able to go online and supports various types of communications like Wifi and Bluetooth. While nothing on connectivity has been said about Revolution, we suspect that something similar to the DS will be included.
