This has been an interesting month, at least for those living outside Japan. "The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass" and "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations" were released in America, allowing most English players to finally play them. Those two games were already mentioned in previous editions of this column, and they are surely worth all the hype.
"Mega Man ZX Advent", a title that was recently made available for Western players, is also a good purchase. If you're expecting a sequel to "Mega Man ZX" you may end up disappointed with this game, since this one doesn't have much to do with the original, but some of its features are quite amazing. For example, you're allowed to play as the bosses you've defeated, and their skills are required to fully explore the content available in the game.
In the end, this is a good choice if you're looking for a good Action title for your portable console, as I mentioned when the game was released in Japan.
"The Simpsons Game", released a few days ago, is a funny game that probably appeals to every fan of the series. It is not as enjoyable as the console versions of the game, but at least it provides some quick fun.
Unfortunately, not even the awesome storyline, which isn't based in any episode of the series, makes up for the lack of replay value. So, once you first complete the game, which you can do in less than five hours, this ends up being the kind of title that you'll put down for good.
For those who are willing to import, "Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Fuuketsu no Grimoire" is already out in Japan.
If I had to give a keyword to this game, that would be "personalization". Even though several problems of the past "Tactics" games weren't solved, this title takes ages to complete, since it provides the player with 400 different missions. While you're facing them, you can fully personalize the many characters that join your party, setting their jobs, skills and equipment as you like. There is an Hard mode, tons of surprises and lots of cameos, and I can assure you that this game won't disappoint those who want a strategy game.
Unfortunately, knowledge of the language is an important requirement to enjoy this game, and if you can't read Japanese I strongly suggest you wait for the English version, which doesn't have a set date, yet.
That's all, for now. See you next month, with some information on what games you should ask for Christmas.
