Interesting DS titles released in July

Nintendo DS Editorial

In a month that was characterized by the lack of major releases, it was slightly hard to pick games that actually deserve our money.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", released at the end of June, is one of those titles that simply tries to make money out of a popular license, presenting players with an uninteresting gameplay experience.
Unfortunately, this has become a lot more frequent these days, and "Naruto Shippuuden: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 5" suffers from the same problem. Sure, you can have online battles with other players, but that turns out being an unimportant feature when you realize that each character has three different specials and a single 3-hit combo. Either if you're a fan of the series or not, be sure to stay away from the title.

Another not-so-interesting title released this month was "Dokidoki Majo Shinpan!". Available via import, this game was made famous by displaying pre-release pictures of young girls (hey, don't get me wrong, they are just anime-like characters!) that you could actually touch and rub.
No, it isn't an hentai title or anything. Instead, the feature that made it famous plays a minor role in the actual game, and unless you're an horny man that wants to see young girl's breasts jumping around, the game isn't that special. In fact, it reminds me of old hentai games, the ones that display no adult images.

"Mega Man ZX Advent" is a good game, one that surely deserves your money when it reaches your local shelves. Most fans may find the game too easy, but it feels like a classical "Mega Man" title, with a few minor tune-ups.

Now, if I had to select a single game as this month's best, I would go for "Subarashiki Kono Sekai: It's a Wonderful World".
WAIT, wait, don't import it just yet! There are no current plans for a Western release, but since it is amazing (and unusual) RPG that comes from the team who created "Kingdom Hearts", it seems unlikely that it will have no English release.
Playing as Neku, a young kid that can read people's minds, you'll have to play a Death Game, where skills are acquired as medals and most equipment comes in the form of clothes. The storyline is slightly dark and probably not very fitting for younger players, but this game contains other unusual features, like an awesome soundtrack, a ton of unexpected plot twists and the inclusion of modern age devices, such as cellular phones.
Ultimately, the game suffers from the usual problems of this genre, but it sure is a good option for those older players out there.

Hopefully, next month will be a more enjoyable one, with local shops presenting players with better titles, unlike what happened this July.
Seeya next month!
